Review: Ummagrip Sticky Battery Pad

The Ummagrip Universal Super Sticky Battery Pad is designed for holding the LiPo on a mini quad, so it doesn’t slide out or move during flight. I have been using it for over 6 months and I’d like to share my experience with it.

The Ummagrip is made by Ummagawd (Tommy) from Rotor Riot. It was originally for his frame, the Remix. But later he decided to release it as a product on its own.

The Ummagrip battery pad is a 100mm by 50mm sheet. On one side, we have 3M adhesive double-sided tape, on the other side is some 3mm thick, sticky, “silicone rubber” like material.

When Tommy sent me this to try last year, I really thought it was just some cheap rubber pads with fancy package. But after using this stuff for over 6 months, and it’s now currently on all my builds. I am really enjoying it!

Not only it’s pretty good, it’s also pretty unique! So far I haven’t seen any alternatives out there. The closest thing I have found is this: http://bit.ly/2CeB2qF

But I don’t like how thin it is, that it doesn’t protect your battery from getting punctured by bolts on the frame in crashes as well. That’s what I really like about the Ummagrip, the 3mm thick soft material can keep the battery well away from any bolts on the frame.

You don’t need much on a quad either, one sheet should be enough for several quads. Two little rectangular pieces are all I need on a quad.

When it gets dirty and loses tackiness, just wipe with damp cloth to remove all the dust. It gets sticky again after some cleaning.

Not only useful on quads, you can also stick it on anything you want to prevent from sliding, like your keyboard on the desk, or power supply on the bench etc.

How sticky is it? People tried sticking their battery on the Ummagrip pad without using a battery straps, and it was holding the battery well even after doing flips and rolls. So yea, it can be quite sticky! 🙂

Let me know if you are able to find something similar to this 🙂 But so far I am very happy with Ummagrip!
