Hope that controler will not be for phantom 5, yes awesome schreen and ocusink but lightbridge 2 may come and I like phantom controller more because stics are bigger more resolution for precision, yes its bigger and not portable but phantom itself is not portable thats why dji has mavics too, I realy like bright screen tho, nice video

Thanks for this very good review…. But that's not what I would call an awesome device :
    – Compatible with only three DJI drone for now (and that's ridiculous. When I first saw this I was very happy because I alway wanted a built-in screen remote for my Mavic "1" Pro and also to do dual remote)
    – You loose the LCD screen for a display that is not as big as most phones today.
    – Plastic looks very cheap compared to the awesome materials of Mavic's remote.
    – Weird choose of antenna system (how do you even point the flat part right at your drone)
    – Crazy expensive !!!
    – 2h of charging for 2.5h of use time isn't a good ratio. But it is very close to what DJI remote can do.

I think this will be useful in 2 years when there will be more drone with Ocusync 2.0 and the price will be divided by 2. But I think we will already have Ocusync 3.0 …

Great video, thanks, but I miss a side by side comparison with the iPhone screen and more about the menus. Thanks! 👍

Good Review👍🏻. We will see if a Pro or Zoom will be sold without Controller and a reduced price…🤔

So you do not need an SD card in your drone for recording your footage anymore?

Looks really nice, but not 650 USD nice. If I ever lose or break my MP2 controller I would probably replace it with this though.

Another over priced novelty. one of the big selling points with Mavics is the portability of not only the drones but the controllers as well……it's kind of large. That combined with the idea you need to pay another $650 plus for a controller when you've already spent 3 times that much on a drone only a few months ago!!! Why wasn't it an option then…..easy, money grab. Sure it can be connected via an HDMI cable to an external monitor…..which now ties you down to that monitor. And let's not forget about the price…..it's almost as much as an Air, more than a Parrot Anafi. But it's DJI and people who are fans of the latest and greatest will flock to it…..although I don't think for the money it's all that great!! Just to clarify, I think DJI has great stuff, but it seems to me they are becoming the "APPLE" of the drone industry…..

Is it still possible to pack this into the stock Mavic 2 bag with two batteries or only one?

…. Nice !!! , finally DJI is stepping up the game …

one reason i had prefer Yuneec over DJI is the controller , but now DJI has score an equalizer after 2 years since I bought the Typhoon H and after I purchase the ANAFI a few weeks ago .

hopefully ; Parrot will bring something similar for the ANAFI …. i truly distrust smartphone manufactures and to keep the drone maker independent from those cell carriers , they all should come with is own lcd screen .

I find it to be an expensive device compared to the drone itself. And would miss the LED display available on the standard Mavic RC. Also, I would be angry of any android software crash that would make the full RC inoperative ?

I always wondered why DJI put to little effort in the ergonomics on their controllers. Ok I don't have any DJI drone but I have at three occasions tried to fly spark, mavic (the first one that came out) and the Phantom 4 Pro v2 and with the exception of the last one, I felt like the gimbals really need an upgrade. I feels like a Eachine E010 controller.
When it comes to the Phantom controller the gimbals are way better although they are far from what I have on my cheapo FrSky QX7 Ok i upgraded the gimbals to hall effect but even the original ones are better than the gimbals of the Phantom controller…The moment I grabbed the Phantom controller I pressed several buttons by mistake just because the thing was badly designed and honestly… this was 2018 and they still had not retired stick arming?!
I hope this new controller is better but the gimbals doesn't look much different from the mavic/spark and the sticks are just everything you have to control your drone so for the price of any of the DJI drone, why don't they spend 10 dollars extra on real gimbals? Even if I know a few DJI pilots who are able to get footage that really has this flying feeling, most DJI footage look a little bit like dining at Baiyoke Tower in Bangkok, and then you turn your head. Nothing wrong with that but flying like an eagle feels a lot better. I think with better bigger gimbals this would be much easier and they could also do a lot more with the flight modes and the handling during flight. The stable footage that you can get is more because of the brilliant camera gimbals than it is because of the flight controller. Actually the gimbals are pretty awesome and when you see the wiggling of the drone itself it is even more impressive.

Thanks for this great review of this new product. Now the mobile phone can be used for daily use during drone flying.

If the app locks up or crashes, can you reboot the screen without shutting off the remote? The Phantom 4 Pro + has this problem. If your Android crashes, you must reboot teh entire controller mid-flight. This forces your Phantom to RTH while you reboot. Hopefully, this controller allows you to reboot your Android but STILL allow you to control your aircraft during this reboot.
